Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam, who was kicked out of the party on Tuesday, said that Priyanka Gandhi’s status is being lowered by the party by giving her a ticket to the Lok Sabha election. His comment came the day after Mallikarjun Kharge, the head of the Congress Party, said that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would run for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat and Rahul Gandhi would keep Rae Bareli.
“The most well-known face in Congress is Priyanka Gandhi.” The Congress should have put her in charge… By giving her a ticket to the Lok Sabha in by-elections, people are trying to make Priyanka Gandhi look less important, he told.

In a veiled attack on the Congress, Krishnam said that the party had shown it “does not trust Hindus” by running Priyanka from Wayanad. But Acharya Krishnam said, “Congress has shown that it doesn’t trust Hindus by making Priyanka Gandhi run from Wayanad.” He then wished Priyanka happiness. If they had believed Hindus, she would have had to run from somewhere else.
Shehzad Poonawalla, a spokesman for the BJP, also attacked the Congress for choosing to run Priyanka Gandhi from Wayanad. He said that this choice showed that the Congress is not a party but a “family business.”
