An accident on the Lucknow motorway in the Unnao region of Uttar Pradesh has claimed the lives of at least eighteen persons.
In the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh, a sleeper bus collided with a milk truck on the Lucknow-Agra motorway on Wednesday morning, resulting in at least 18 fatalities and 19 injuries.
The bus from Bihar to Delhi crashed with the tanker when it was trying to overtake, and the event happened close to Gadha village. The bus tipped over due to the force of the accident.
Officials said that the majority of passengers on the bus were migrant labourers.
Everyone who was hurt has been taken to a neighbouring hospital to receive medical attention. Three of the 19 individuals are reportedly in a critical condition.

Two murdered victims from Bihar, Rajnish Kumar (age 26) and Mohd Shamim (age 28), have been recognised by the authorities. The identification of the remaining victims is now under progress.
A rescue effort has been started by the local authorities. Helpline numbers (0515-2970767, 9651432703, 9454417447, 8887713617, 8081211289) have also been released by the Unnao government.
Congressman Mallikarjun Kharge, in the meantime, expressed his condolences for the deaths caused by the event and wished the injured parties a quick recovery. Additionally, he urged every member of the INDIA bloc parties to assist the victims in whatever way they could.

In another incident earlier this year, eight people were killed and over 20 others were injured when a speeding truck collided head-on with a bus, ripping through one of its sides, in Unnao in April. The accident took place near Jamaldipur village on Hardoi-Unnao Road in Safipur. The injured were admitted to the Unnao district hospital and LLR Hospital in Kanpur.

According to the police, the bus was carrying 35 passengers, eight of whom were killed and 20 others got injured in the accident.
While the bus driver fled after the accident, the truck driver was arrested.
Meanwhile, in another incident, at least 40 people, including several school children, were injured after a bus in which they were travelling overturned in Haryana’s Panchkula district on Monday morning. The incident took place near Naulata village of Pinjore town. According to the police, the accident was caused due to overspeeding by the bus driver. Along with this, since the bus was filled beyond its capacity with passengers, overloading and poor road conditions have also been attributed as additional reasons for the accident.
