Swati Maliwal speaking, I have been Attacked at CM Residence,” the PCR Phones Delhi Police.

When HT attempted to contact Maliwal, the former head of the Delhi Commission for Women, for remarks, she kept hanging up the phone.

Swati Maliwal, a member of the Rajya Sabha for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), allegedly suffered an assault at the chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on Monday, according to two calls that the Delhi Police received from that location.

The sources claimed that although Maliwal was at the residence to meet Kejriwal, his personal aide Bibhav Kumar stopped her from doing so. Maliwal had been abroad for weeks and had been mostly absent throughout the chief minister’s incarceration in the excise police case. When HT attempted to contact Maliwal, the former head of the Delhi Commission for Women, for remarks, she kept hanging up the phone.

According to a Delhi Police operations cell officer, there were two calls about the purported occurrence. “The caller did not give her name in the initial call, made at approximately 9.40 am, to 100 [emergency response number]. However, in the second call, which came in at roughly 9.54 a.m., the caller identified herself as Swati Maliwal and claimed that Bibhav Kumar, an advisor to the chief minister of Delhi, was abusing her, the police official added, requesting to remain anonymous.

Police said three vans were rushed “to the alleged place of occurrence”, where nothing could be found.

Maliwal separately arrived at the Civil Lines Police Station but soon left without lodging any complaint, a second police officer said, asking not to be named. It was not immediately clear why she did so.

Bharatiya Janata Party Delhi spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor sought clarification from the office of the chief minister, who is on interim bail until June 1, to prevent rumours about the purported incident. He cited unnamed sources and claimed there was “a clash between an aide of the chief minister and a senior woman leader” at Kejriwal’s residence around 9.15am on Monday. He added a police call was also made.

Kapoor said that a former women’s panel chief is not safe at the chief minister’s house while calling it a serious matter. He asked the chief minister to respond.
