One YouTuber named Soumil is far from unconcerned as the country reels from the horrific death of 31-year-old Moumita Debnath, a second-year graduate student.
He decided to post on Twitter/X, hoping to get likes and become viral, saying that the victim was so ugly that he couldn’t believe how anyone could even consider r*ping her.

The opinions have caused a great deal of debate on the internet, especially after Soumil produced a video to support his remarks. Although not much is known about Soumil, he manages the SoumilUnfiltered YouTube account, and according to people on Twitter/X, his father is a member of the Indian Army.
Following his detention by the CBI on Friday, Dr. Sandip Gosh, the former principal of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, is once again making headlines. Ignorant of the circumstances? This is a synopsis:
Dr. Sandip Ghosh was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation on Friday to question him over the suspected r*pe and murder case involving Dr. Moumita Debnath, a postgraduate student.
In addition, the hospital’s previous superintendent, Dr. Sanjay Vashisth, and former principal, Dr. Arunava Dutta Chowdhury, who took over as head of the chest department on August 1, were also questioned.
Following the incident, Chowdhury and Vashisth were both transported and on Thursday, they were questioned for more than eight hours.

Kolkata Police Apprehended 20 Individuals
Simultaneously, the Kolkata police arrested 20 individuals, including a woman, by Friday afternoon in connection with the violence and vandalism that erupted at the hospital’s emergency department.
For context, the mob stormed the hospital around 12:40 am on August 15, damaging property on the ground-floor emergency ward, a first-floor ward, and the ENT department on the second floor.

At the time, junior doctors were protesting outside, demanding justice for the victim. Among these arrested were Jit Biswas, the son of a tea stall owner with no criminal history, and Soumik Das, who was apprehended in Dum Dum’s East Sinthee area.
Meanwhile, the Interrogation of Ghosh has been met with approval by the protesting students at R.G. Kar Hospital.
Did the CBI Detain Dr. Sandip Ghosh?
On Friday, August 16, the CBI brought Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the contentious former principal of R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, to their Salt Lake office for questioning regarding the r*pe and murder of a junior doctor on the hospital premises the previous week.
As of now, it remains unclear if Ghosh has been formally arrested or is merely being held for questioning. This development followed Ghosh’s attempt to seek police protection through a plea to the Calcutta High Court.
However, the court instructed him to file a proper petition, which will be considered for a hearing next week. Ghosh is currently on leave after the court ordered the state health department not to appoint him as the head of any medical college in West Bengal until further notice.
This order came after he resigned as principal of R.G. Kar on Monday, citing “moral responsibility,” only to be swiftly appointed as the principal of Calcutta National Medical College and Hospital, sparking protests from students and junior doctors at CNMCH.
