In Manipur’s Jiribam district, armed miscreants and a combination of state and central authorities exchanged gunfire in the villages of Mongbung and Seijang, according to police.
A gunfight that took place in Manipur’s Jiribam district on Sunday claimed the life of one Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) member. Two state police commandos and one more CRPF jawan were shot.

According to police, at approximately 9.30 am, armed miscreants and a combined force of state and central security personnel exchanged gunfire in the Jiribam district’s Mongbung and Seijang villages. One CRPF driver, identified as 43-year-old Bihar resident Ajay Kumar Jha, was struck in the forehead during the event. After being transported to the Jiribam District Hospital, the hospital’s officials pronounced him deceased.
In the incident, another CRPF jawan sustained a bullet injury to his leg, and two Manipur commandos also received bullet injuries. The injured are receiving treatment at Jiribam district hospital. The gunfight stopped at around 11.30 am.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed his sympathies to the soldier’s family and denounced the attack.

“I vehemently denounce the assassination of a CRPF member in the Jiribam district today by an armed group thought to be Kuki insurgents. His ultimate self-sacrifice while performing his duty won’t be forgotten. He stated on X, “I also want to express my deepest sympathies to the soldier’s family who has lost a loved one, and I’m hoping for the quick recovery of anyone hurt in the incident.
