Lok Sabha Elections 2024: “Strong opposition is good for the country, but…,” says Amit Shah.

Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Amit Shah attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the decline in the country’s political standards.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government will return to power in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

According to Shah, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has already reached the number of seats required to establish a government in the first five phases of the general election.

“We are between 300 and 310, minus the final phase…We are in a comfortable position. This time, we turned to folks who have a 10-year track record and a 25-year plan that is overwhelmingly favourable,” Shah told Indian Express in an interview.

Shah stated that having a robust opposition benefits the country. “Yes, I accept that; but, the people will make the final decision. We cannot produce it. “It cannot happen because you want it to happen,” he stated.

Shah further stated that by ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’, he intended for India to free itself of the Congress party’s philosophy. “But even that (ideology) isn’t there (in the Congress) now,” he stated.

Shah accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for the decline in the country’s political norms. “In my perspective, the Congress’s conduct altered after Rahul Gandhi joined the party, and political standards have dropped since then. This also influenced the attitudes of the parties that had forged an alliance with the Congress,” Shah explained in the interview.

The Home Minister stated that the opposition’s weakness has nothing to do with Prime Minister Modi’s sense of mission for the country. He also enumerated reasons why the Prime Minister is popular.

“In 10 years, we have improved the living conditions of 60 crore people by providing them with houses, toilets, water, a Rs-5 lakh insurance programme, 5 kilogramme food grains and a petrol cylinder.”Modiji has helped build self-confidence and self-determination,” he stated.

Shah stated that when Covid-19 was detected, the Prime Minister went on a vaccine programme and employed technology to safeguard 132 crore people. “Elsewhere, even in advanced nations, the fight against Corona sputtered because there the government fought while here the government and the people fought together,” he stated.

Elections for 486 of the 543 Lok Sabha seats were completed by the end of Phase 6 polling on Saturday. The BJP-led NDA, seeking a record third term under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to win 400 seats in this election. The ruling alliance is being challenged by opposition parties led by the Congress, known as the INDIA bloc.
