The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won their third Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 title, defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with 8 wickets and 57 balls to spare as they chased down the target of 114 in just 10.3 overs.
SRH was bowled out for 113. Needing 114 to win the match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the KKR batters made no fuss and went for it right away. Venkatesh Iyer started the chase with a fifty, remaining undefeated on 52 off just 26 balls. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 39 from 32 balls.
Opting to bat first, Hyderabad never got going, with only four batters reaching double figures and the entire squad being dismissed for 113 in 18.3 overs. Pat Cummins top-scored with 24, while Andre Russell grabbed three wickets for the Knight Riders. Mitchell Strac’s two wickets dealt an early shock to Hyderabad, and Harshit Rana took important wickets for Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy.

Shahbaz Ahmed replaced Abdul Samad in Hyderabad, playing 11. Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, expressed his happiness at losing the toss because he wanted to bowl first. There was no alteration in the Kolkata playing eleven.
