On July 12, Farah celebrated her birthday by giving her mother two pictures and a heartfelt letter praising her fortitude. She acknowledged that she had been taking her mother “for granted” and that she wished she had more strength so they could “start fighting.” “We all take our mothers for granted… especially me!” she captioned the photo.
Sharing how the family had a tough few weeks, Farah further wrote, “This last month has been a revelation on how much I love my mom, Menka.. she’s been the strongest, bravest person I’ve ever seen.. sense of humor intact even after multiple surgeries. Happy birthday Mom! Today’s a good day to come back home ♥️ can’t wait for you to get strong enough to start fighting with me again. I love you.”

On his mother’s birthday, Sajid Khan, Farah’s brother, also posted a picture of himself with Menaka and Farah. “Happy Birthday, Mommy,” he wrote.
Actor Daisy Irani and screenwriter Honey Irani’s sister was Menaka Irani. Her niece and nephew are the filmmakers Zoya and Farhan Akhtar. With their father dead, Menaka raised Farah and Sajid by herself.
Farah had mentioned in a previous interview that her mother had threatened to divorce her if she did not marry before turning 22. “I was not thinking about marriage at all,” she stated. I imagined I would get married when I was 22, but my family is strange. They gathered and threatened to throw you out of the house if you got married so young and did not do anything in life. Thus, they behaved exactly in opposition to what a typical parent would do. I will kick you out of the house, my mother said. Your life must be made meaningful. Financial independence is a prerequisite for marriage.
