On Thursday at around 2:35 p.m., a train derailed between the Motiganj and Jhilani railway stations in the Gonda district.
Three fatalities and thirty injuries were reported on Thursday afternoon following the derailment of eight bogies of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express close to the Gonda railway station in Uttar Pradesh. Wednesday night, the train departed from the Chandigarh station at 11:35 p.m.

On Thursday at around 2:35 p.m., a train derailed between the Motiganj and Jhilani railway stations in the Gonda district. The train’s two loco pilots are secure. According to Railways authorities, one of the loco pilots reported a loud explosion-like sound before the incident.
However, according to DGP Prashant Kumar of Uttar Pradesh, there was no explosion before the event. Meanwhile, four individuals lost their lives, according to what Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak previously told newswire PTI.

However, the numbers were changed by the authorities after almost five hours, when District Magistrate Neha Sharma said that there had only been one casualty.
“People were strewn about in poor condition when teams arrived, which is why confusion appeared at first,” Sharma stated. According to UP Relief Commissioner GS Naveen, a further passenger passed away in the evening while being transported to Lucknow for medical attention.
Union minister and local MP Kirti Vardhan Singh also visited the accident spot.
“Since this train was going to Dibrugarh from Chandigarh, a special train has left from Gorakhpur to carry the passengers to their destination. The train will stop at Mankapur railway station, and buses have been arranged to take passengers to the railway station,” Singh said.
He went on to explain that the Railways technical team would investigate the reason for the incident. The Railways Ministry has requested a high-level probe into the incident. The Ministry also offered ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh for the relatives of the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakh for severe injuries, and Rs 50,000 for mild injuries.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to handle casualties with compassion and carry out rescue efforts with the ferocity of combat. The authorities have released the following helpline numbers: 8957400965 in Gonda, 8957409292 in Lucknow, and 9957555960 in Dibrugarh.
