MS Dhoni was angry at himself after the CSK star failed to get his side over the line in the tense chase against RCB on May 18, Saturday. The win would leave Virat Kohli emotional as the RCB squad celebrated their win on the day. Dhoni was taking strike in the final over of the game as CSK needed 17 off the final over as the CSK legend was on strike.
Dhoni had started the over with a fantastic 110-metre six off Yash Dayal’s bowling as it seemed like CSK was in control of things. However, the next delivery saw Dhoni hit the next ball in the air and into the hands of Swapnil Singh as the hopes of the CSK fans seemed to end. Dayal would hold his nerve in the next 4 balls as CSK fell short by 10 runs and failed to make it to the playoffs. Dhoni was visibly frustrated and was seen sitting distraught in the dugout watching the final over unfold.
Jadeja, who was batting on 42, failed to get any connection in the next two balls as Yash Dayal wheeled off in celebration Virat Kohli was also left emotional with the result in the end.
How did the RCB vs CSK match pan out?
CSK had put RCB into bat and Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis got them off to a strong start before a rain delay happened. Both men were able to see off a tough period during the game and the RCB batters started to score freely.
Rajat Patidar scored 41 and Cameron Green hit 38 as RCB posted 218 runs in their 20 overs. The CSK chase got off to the worst possible start as Ruturaj Gaikwad fell off the very first ball. Rachin Ravindra’s 61 kept CSK in the hunt but wickets started falling.
Jadeja and Dhoni’s partnership gave CSK hope to qualify but in the end, RCB came through.
