Earthquake in Jammu and Kashmir: 4.2 magnitude tremors rock J-K
A magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck Baramulla district on Friday, officials said.
There are no reports of any loss of life or damage to property, they said.
The earthquake hit the north Kashmir district at 12.26 pm.
According to the officials, the struck at a latitude of 34.32 degrees north and a longitude of 74.41 degrees east at a depth of 5 km.

An measuring 4.1 on the Richter Scale struck Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. The tremors were felt in the region around 12:26 PM, according to the National Center for Seismology.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km. The National Center for Seismology reported the event with the following details: “EQ of M: 4.1, On: 12/07/2024 12:26:24 IST, Lat: 34.32 N, Long: 74.34 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir.”
Timing and Aftermath
The rumbling in Canada was first detected shortly after 8 AM local time. Initially estimated at a magnitude of 6.5, the quake was later downgraded to 6.4. The USGS confirmed that there was no risk of a tsunami following the event.
